Can you find a shred of biblical evidence that gives you comfort with such a condition? I will grant that a person can truly be saved and yet fall into sin. Every saint struggles daily against the world, the flesh, and the devil, and many saints have not learned to have consistent victory over these enemies of the soul.
But I deny that you can be truly saved and live in sin and yet be comfortable living like that! The only people ready for His return are those who daily seek to bring every area of life under His lordship.
Lesson Are You Ready for Christ’s Return? (Luke ) | itocagawoler.ga
It is a constant struggle, but if you are not engaging in the struggle, you need to examine yourself to see whether you are in the faith 2 Cor. It should be obvious that a master is master of servants. His servants live to obey his commands and to do his bidding. They were up in the service of their master. Servants do not have a life of their own; they live to please their master. Being a servant of Jesus Christ is first and foremost a mindset and secondarily a specific ministry. My ministry is to be a pastor, but I only work at that task about 50 hours a week.
But I am a servant of Jesus In addition to a servant mindset, servants of Christ should seek out an area of service in line with their spiritual gifts. God has given all of us a function to perform in the body of Christ and that body will be healthy and grow to the degree that every member functions as he or she ought Eph. If you are not serving Christ in some capacity or looking for a place to serve, you are probably living for yourself. Servants seek to serve their Master.
He wants to find them serving Him. The homeowner should have been expecting the arrival of the thief. It was his attempt to portray himself as the friend of the average person, a leader who understood the problems we all face.
4 Teachings of Jesus That His Followers (Almost) Never Take Seriously
Although you might not want our current President to spend the night in your home, imagine how you would get ready if a normal President announced that he would be coming to spend the night. Your house would be spotless. All the beds would be made. You might even put a fresh coat of paint on some of the walls or woodwork. You would want your yard to look presentable. You might go to the nursery and buy some flowers to plant. You would want things to be clean and neat because you were expecting the President.
Would you have been comfortable if He had come back during your activities this past weekend? Are there books or magazines or videos that you need to get rid of before He comes to your home? Do you watch TV shows where you would be mortified if the Savior knocked on your door while they were on?
Jesus says that we should be ready immediately to open the door to him when he comes and knocks He said that at the very moment he was speaking, his dogs were sitting inside his front door, awaiting his return. At the first sound of his carriage wheels, they would lift up their voices with delight because their master is coming home.
Then he adds,. Oh, if we loved our Lord as dogs love their masters, how we should catch the first sound of his Coming, and be waiting, always waiting, and never happy until at last we should see him! Pardon me for using a dog as a picture of what you ought to be; but when you have attained to a state above that, I will find another illustration to explain my meaning 12 Se r mons on the Second Coming of Christ [Baker], p. At this point, Peter asks whether the Lord is addressing this teaching to the twelve or to everyone else as well. As in the parable of the soils, there is only one good category; the other three face punishment, beginning with the worst and moving toward the least severe.
I want to be solidly in the first camp! The inhabitants of Venus live in complete harmony and freedom. They have no disease, war, old age, crime, national boundaries or financial system. They have advanced beyond the petty squabbling and vicious savagery that are commonplace on Earth, and have attained a stage of evolution where they are all masters of the spiritual sciences.
Each and every one of them has attained a degree of enlightenment as yet physically impossible for us on Earth, where they literally know God. In other words they are one with the Divine Spark within. This means they have great powers, which on Earth would seem miraculous, but are in fact perfectly natural — just nature on such a high level as to be unfamiliar to us. To them things like telepathy, clairvoyance and levitation would be part of daily life. They also have great knowledge, and more importantly: great wisdom and great compassion.
It is this compassion that motivates them to help us on Earth. One of the many ways that our interplanetary neighbors have assisted us is by being born among us. Some years ago, a small part of the consciousness of the Master Jesus was born in an ordinary human body on Earth. It would have been much more limited than it was on Venus, and we do not know when exactly Jesus would have realized his extraterrestrial origin.
However, limited or not, he was still, from a spiritual point of view, vastly superior to any Earth person. Nevertheless, he would still have had to work hard to gain his miraculous powers. This he did through the practice of the higher forms of yoga, which he is presumed to have learnt on his largely undocumented travels prior to his main mission as recorded in the Bible. Yoga, of course, in its highest sense, is not just physical exercises for health and fitness, but a profound system of self-development leading to the mastery of psychic powers and cosmic consciousness.
The Master Jesus was able to intervene, averting this catastrophe. He could not make the bad karma disappear, because that is impossible, but he was able to delay it. Now if this is not familiar to you, let me explain that this is not the point where you get all holier than thou on me. Prayer for me is simply sharing my heart with one greater than myself.
I was actually up at 3. That happens to me from time to time. I pray while I stroll beside the ocean. I pray in the car. I pray as an individual, and we pray as a family. But what is prayer? Seems back to front to conventional thinking — but I have seen many an enemy turned around degrees through the power of simply praying that good happen in their life.
This is such a wonderful principle. Simply, do as you want to be done. Be direct. Ask for what you need. Go on, I dare you. In sales I learnt very quickly that if I never asked for the sale I would never get the sale. The power is in the asking. But ask, and in your asking expect to receive.
When my children ask me for something, as their father I cannot resist the pull that it invokes on my fatherly heartstrings to give them the best that I have to offer. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging. Wipe that ugly sneer off your own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbour. Point one finger in the direction of another in judgment and you have three pointing straight back at you. Not good. Resist the slippery slide towards judging others.
If you can say yes. This builds a depth of character in your being and trust from those around you. Just do it—quietly and unobtrusively. There is nothing worse than someone blowing their own trumpet. Practice the art of giving in secret. Your reward will be great. To forgive others is to free you from the disabling chains of unforgiveness. Sorry is sometimes the hardest word to say, but once said it is liberating.
You lead the way and be the first to offer the hand of forgiveness. This is not about wrong or right, but rather living a life of freedom. An evil person is a blight on the orchard. Let me tell you something: Every one of these careless words is going to come back to haunt you. There will be a time of Reckoning. Words are powerful; take them seriously. Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, so use words wisely.
Put a watch over your mouth and analyse the words that leave your lips.
